In the ending of "Hell Hath No Fury," the battle for the gold reaches its climax with intense confrontations and shifting alliances. Maitland and Marie manage to trap Bruckner, the surviving Nazi officer, and threaten to call in an airstrike to force him to surrender. Bruckner is forced to lower his weapon, and Maitland offers him a deal to share the treasure, choosing to negotiate with a Nazi still clinging to his own survival. However, Marie’s fury boils over as she has been disillusioned by the greed and brutality that war has perpetuated. In a moment of rage, she kills Maitland, revealing her deep hatred for the corrupt deals that war fosters. Bruckner responds by shooting her in the shoulders, but Marie seizes the opportunity to stab him in the chaos. Just as an American aircraft drops a bomb on the cemetery, Marie uses Bruckner’s body as protection from the explosion and survives the blast. After the chaos, she realizes that the gold is cursed and tainted with blood, symbols of suffering and war’s cruelty. She leaves the cemetery empty-handed, believing the treasure belongs to no one and that it’s better left buried. In the end, Marie begins a new life in Paris, living modestly and never returning to the grave, carrying with her the lessons of loss, vengeance, and the futility of greed. The story closes on her walking away from the cursed gold, having finally freed herself from its destructive hold.}}
