Turo Moilanen lives in a small village in Northern Finland. He works in a psychiatric hospital while also fronting an extreme metal band, struggling with band dynamics and personal aspirations.

The extreme metal band, comprised of Turo, drummer Jynkky, bassist Pasi, and guitarist Lotvonen, faces several creative disagreements and challenges. Their inability to agree on a band name exacerbates their struggles, and Turo’s stage fright prevents them from pursuing gigs.

Amidst his musical troubles, Turo develops a crush on Miia, the daughter of the local police commissioner, Kujanpää. However, local singer Jouni warns Turo to stay away from her, as he also has intentions towards Miia.

The band faces a breakthrough moment when a reindeer carcass becomes stuck in an industrial meat grinder at the Lotvonen slaughterhouse. This bizarre event inspires them to write their first original song, 'Flooding Secretions', and they finally choose the name 'Impaled Rektum'.

When Norwegian promoter Frank Massegrav visits to purchase reindeer blood, he accidentally gets doused with it. An overly enthusiastic Jynkky hands him the band's demo tape, believing it will secure them a spot at an upcoming festival.

Turo lies to Miia, telling her they got the festival gig. Excited, she spreads the news throughout the village, transforming the band's perception from outcasts to local celebrities.

The band's newfound popularity culminates in an invitation to perform at a local event hall. Unfortunately, their luck runs out when Frank calls to announce there is no festival slot, causing Turo's anxiety to explode in a very public way.

Desperate to succeed, Jynkky steals a van to drive to the festival without proper permission. Tragically, he loses control and dies in a car crash on the way, leaving the band devastated.

Following Jynkky's funeral, Turo feels demoralized until Miia visits him, urging him not to give up. Motivated, Turo recruits Pasi and Lotvonen and breaks out mental patient Oula, leading them on a daring path to the festival.

As their journey becomes notorious, the Norwegian authorities are alerted about a band described as terrorists. In a case of mistaken identity, they attack a nearby bachelor party while the band manages to slip past unnoticed.

Cornered at the edge of a cliff, the band faces a crucial moment of decision. In a daring and reckless act of determination, they jump off the cliff with Jynkky's coffin, emerging later on the shore.

After washing ashore, the band encounters a group of live action role-players who agree to help them. They are ferried to the festival on a Viking longship, adding an adventurous twist to their journey.

Upon arrival at the festival, Frank admires the band's 'metal' antics and grants them a slot to perform one song. Turo is overjoyed to see Miia again, leading to a heartfelt exchange of feelings.

As they take the stage, Turo's nerves get the best of him once again, resulting in another embarrassing moment as he vomits in front of the audience. However, he gathers himself and leads the band into a triumphant performance featuring Jynkky's coffin.

Following their performance, the band is immediately arrested due to their chaotic antics. Despite this outcome, Turo expresses no regrets and affirms that the world will hear of Impaled Rektum again.
