Four long‑time friends who worked as railwaymen before the regime change lose their jobs due to cutbacks. Years later, after the village station has been dismantled, former stationmaster Lajos Zsuzsa receives a summons to the station office. To keep his friends employed, he falsely claims the station still exists and that they can resume their duties.
