Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge

Marnie tries to win over the new boy Kal by showing him Aggie's magically hidden spellbook room. The reveal hints at Kal's dangerous interest and sets the plot in motion. The mortal-world Halloween party continues as secrets simmer beneath the surface.

Aggie notices unwelcome magical symptoms in Marnie and realizes a deeper problem is spreading. She decides they must go to Halloweentown to investigate and fix the issue before the portal to the mortal world closes at midnight.

They travel to Halloweentown to investigate the cause of the spell and plan a fix before the midnight deadline. They find the town transformed into a black-and-white, colorless landscape as the Grey Spell spreads.

In the monochrome world, Marnie's goblin friend Luke has been transformed into a dull goblin and is among the affected. Aggie identifies the condition as the Grey Spell and its spread through Halloweentown. The discovery confirms the magical crisis is real.

Marnie and Aggie learn Kal is actually a warlock and the son of Kalabar, the foe from the previous film. Kal stole Aggie's spellbook to hinder her powers and advance his father's revenge against both worlds. The revelation reframes Kal as the central antagonist.

Aggie searches her house for a spare copy of the spell book but finds it missing. The loss leaves the group without a crucial tool to reverse the Grey Spell. The stakes rise as time runs short.

During a tense exchange, Marnie inadvertently reverts Luke back to his goblin form. The reversal seems temporary, leaving the group puzzled about how the spell behaves and how to undo it.

The trio travels to Gort's lair, where the legendary junk-magnet is discolored by the Grey Spell and has accumulated many lost items. He reveals that he had sold the spare spell book to Kalabar about fifty years prior, linking Kal's theft to an old debt.

Marnie uses time travel to return to Gort's house before the Grey Spell struck and learns that the Grey Spell can be reversed by saying Trapa, which is Apart backwards. The discovery offers a viable pathway to undo the magic.

Kal enspells Halloweentown into a monochrome caricature and prepares to spread the spell to the mortal world during a high-school Halloween party. Sophie and Dylan realize that Alex, believed to be Kal's father, is actually a golem distracting their mother Gwen.

Kal puts his spell into effect, turning the party guests into the monsters they are dressed as, creating chaos. Dylan and Sophie hide from the monster versions of their mother and others. The escalating chaos signals that the portal between worlds may be closing.

Marnie contacts her siblings and they devise a new spell to reopen the portal permanently between Halloweentown and the mortal world. Kal confronts Marnie, tries to seize both spell books with slimy living vines, but Marnie takes them away. The family breaks his spells in both worlds, ending his scheme.
