Gramps Is in the Resistance

In 1943 occupied Paris, the once‑grand Bourdelle household has been reduced to a cramped cellar beneath a German‑occupied mansion. The family is anchored by the legendary opera diva Helena Bourdelle, whose powerful voice once filled concert halls, and her late husband, the respected conductor André Bourdelle. Their three adult daughters—Bernadette, the pragmatic eldest; Colette, the spirited middle child; and the seemingly unassuming Guy‑Hubert, the youngest—now share this hidden refuge with André’s aging father, affectionately called Gramps. The walls of their new home echo with the clash of a city under siege, while the surface world continues its oppressive march.

Against this backdrop of scarcity and surveillance, the Bourdelles cling to their cultural identity, turning humor and disguise into survival tools. By day, Guy‑Hubert runs a modest hair‑dressing shop, his gentle demeanor masking a razor‑sharp wit. By night, whispers speak of a phantom figure known only as the “Super‑Résistant,” whose daring deeds have earned him a reputation as the Germans’ most dreaded opponent. The German presence looms above the cellar, embodied by the imposing General Hermann Spontz, who has claimed the Bourdelle mansion as his headquarters. Sharing the cramped underbelly with the family is Michel Taupin, a charismatic tenant whose flirtatious charm belies a growing curiosity about the underground currents swirling around him.
