Gracie & Pedro: Pets to the Rescue

In the evening in Los Angeles, Gracie the pampered Cocker Spaniel and Pedro the timid British Shorthair are introduced as part of new families. The family heads toward Utah for vacation, but Gracie realizes she forgot her favorite squeaky toy while Pedro forgets his cat scratcher. Intent on retrieving them, the two encounter new animal characters along the way, including Conrad the condor who is useful and has a fondness for peanuts, and Shades the sunglasses-wearing bunny. Their plan backfires when a vital stowaway piece is destroyed, and they tumble from the aircraft, stranded far from their destination.

After awakening from the crash, Gracie and Pedro decide to work together and embark on a 500-mile walk back toward Utah. The journey is grueling but necessary, with each lesson hard learned about trust and cooperation. Their stubborn fighting gives way to a cautious partnership.

On the road they meet Willow, a horse, who is eager to share the journey with his owner Detective Doyle and his ferret companion Sherlock. A dog walker offers a potential path home, but Gracie refuses to follow, while Pedro pulls her toward the path, steering them into a garbage can headed for Utah.

Pedro volunteers to take the viper bite to prove himself ferocious, but Gracie is chosen instead. A group of cats overhears their captivity and reveals the plot, prompting Gracie and Pedro to escape and plunge into a sewer river. They begin a perilous river journey through the underground network.

Gracie and Pedro travel through a maze of pipes, are spit out into a river, and survive the treacherous currents. Sissy and Chrissy vow to continue their rescue mission, while the couple reaches the river bank and contemplates their next move. The duo decides to let Pedro lead for a stretch of the journey.

The pair press on through trucks, trains, and boats, releasing hens to prove that birds can fly—only to watch them splash into the water. Sherlock and Willow come to their aid, rescuing the pets and sending them toward Utah in a package, aided by a ship captain who believes in their cause.

The package eventually reaches Antarctica, where Gracie and Pedro try to cross a freezing lake. Gracie slips into the ice, and Pedro overcomes his fear of water by diving in to save her, demonstrating the new friendship between them.

Sissy and Chrissy attempt one last move to grab the viper; their plan collapses when a series of hazards—like a boulder, piano, brick wall, and a giant tiger—crush the viper and endanger the snakes. Gracie and Pedro reach their plane and reunite with their families, realizing that friends come from all shapes and sizes.
