Spiridon Peresiadis (1864‑1918), a Greek writer of dramatic idylls, wrote Golfo in 1894. Set near Mount Helmos by the River Styx of Mavroneri, Golfo and Tassos swear eternal love. Golfo refuses a noble suitor, but Tassos breaks his oath, marrying a rich woman; when he later regrets, destiny has already sealed their tragedy.
