The short film is a cinematic insert to Sergei Eisenstein’s modernized, free adaptation of Ostrovsky’s 19th‑century Russian play The Wise Man (Na vsyakogo mudretsa dovolno prostoty). It follows anti‑hero Glumov as he tries to escape exposure amid acrobatics, daring feats and farcical clowning. A few members of Eisenstein’s Proletkult troupe in Moscow appear briefly, adding historic flavor.
