Girl’s Dormitory

The film opens with students at the Montreaux School for Girls gathering at a state fair, where they draw lots to ask Dr. Stephen Dominick for a dance. Marie Claudel wins the opportunity and nervously approaches him, but he refuses, citing inappropriateness due to her being a student. This causes Marie to become emotional and run away, missing the bus back to school.

Marie arrives late at the boarding school following her emotional departure from the fair. She is visibly upset and anxious about her missed bus, setting the stage for subsequent conflicts and her emotional state in the storyline.

Professor Augusta Wimmer, known for her strict demeanor, finds a discarded love letter among her students' belongings. The discovery sparks suspicion, and Dr. Dominick and Professor Anna Mathe are tasked with identifying the girl behind it, ultimately suspecting Marie Claudel due to handwriting analysis.

Marie is confronted by the teachers and denies writing the love letter, fearing exposure of her crush on Dr. Dominick. She insists she did not write it, but her classmates and teachers suspect she was visiting her boyfriend, risking suspension just days before graduation.

In a moment of vulnerability, Marie confesses to Professor Anna Mathe that she wrote the love letter to Dr. Dominick. Anna chooses not to reveal the truth to him immediately, hoping to shield Marie from harsh punishment, but the school's strict teachers continue to pressure her.

Feeling desperate under the mounting pressure, Marie runs away into a storm and is chased by Dr. Dominick. He catches up to her at a remote mountain hut, where she confesses her love for him. He admits that he returns her feelings, creating a moment of emotional connection.

After their emotional encounter, Dr. Dominick returns to school and openly proposes marriage to Marie, who happily accepts. Their relationship deepens as they navigate the societal and school constraints that threaten their happiness.

Marie overhears Professor Anna Mathe admitting her love for Dr. Dominick. Heartbroken, Anna reveals her feelings and plans to leave the school, feeling she cannot compete for his affection. Marie, feeling guilty, lies to Dr. Dominick about her own feelings to protect Anna.

On the day of graduation, Marie prepares to leave the school with her cousin Vallais after a celebration at a nightclub. Just before departure, Dr. Dominick visits her, expressing that he could never fall in love with Anna, and they share a heartfelt kiss, hinting at their future together.
