Ayyappan Nair, an elephant caretaker, is passionate about the animals. With wife Madhavi and daughter Karthika, he secures a bank loan hoping to buy an elephant, but the money initially yields nothing. Eventually a circus crew sells him a Hindi‑trained elephant, which he brings home. To communicate with the animal he learns Hindi from Jayachandran, and during this time Jayachandran and Karthika fall in love.
