Gabbar renames himself after the infamous fictional outlaw Gabbar Singh as an act of rebellion against his stepfather Naidu. Growing up, he resented how his stepfather favored his younger half-brother Ajay over him. By adopting the name of a notorious dacoit, he symbolically rejected his family's values and expressed his simmering anger toward his stepfather.

This rebellious naming sets the tone for his entire character arc, foreshadowing his confrontational relationship with authority and family.

Siddhappa Naidu is a local goon with political ambitions who seeks to become a Member of Legislative Assembly. He backs a plan through his uncle to seize a path into the MLA's chair during an upcoming by-election. He views Gabbar Singh as a personal obstacle because Gabbar consistently thwarts his illegal activities and refuses to be bribed or intimidated.

Siddhappa's political ambition directly drives his conflict with Gabbar throughout the film.

Bhagya Lakshmi refuses Gabbar's proposal because she cannot abandon her ailing, alcoholic father who depends on her care. She tells Gabbar she cannot marry while her father is still alive and in need of her support. Despite her feelings for Gabbar, she prioritizes her familial duty.

This sacrifice highlights Bhagya's character and makes her eventual acceptance of Gabbar more meaningful after he helps resolve her situation.

Siddhappa kills Gabbar's mother while searching for money to force Gabbar to bow to his demands. When Gabbar continues to obstruct his political ambitions, Siddhappa murders Gabbar's mother as a cruel tactic to pressure Gabbar into compliance. This revelation comes later when Ajay tells Gabbar the truth.

The timing of her death shortly after Gabbar's confrontation with Siddhappa at the handicraft exhibition hints at foul play.

Ajay becomes involved because he is desperate for money and trapped by debts. Siddhappa recruits him to help in his campaign, offering financial help in return. Siddhappa instructs Ajay to deliver a cellphone and a box of sweets to the Minister's house, not revealing that a bomb is concealed inside. Ajay unknowingly carries out the assassination, which kills the Minister.

Earlier, Ajay's financial troubles are shown when he injures a creditor, establishing his vulnerability to Siddhappa's manipulation.

Gabbar publicly humiliates Ajay because Ajay, driven by debts, injures a creditor, and Siddhappa calls the police to involve Gabbar in the case. Gabbar responds by beating Ajay in public to demonstrate his impartiality and protect his reputation as a fair officer. However, this move backfires politically, tarnishing his standing with the district superintendent and leading to his suspension.

This public confrontation strains their already fractured relationship and puts Gabbar in a difficult position.

Gabbar crashes the wedding after discovering that Siddhappa had orchestrated Bhagya's marriage to a local merchant by bribing her alcoholic father. The marriage was a setup designed to enrage Gabbar and distract him from Siddhappa's political schemes. Gabbar arrives at the wedding, confronts everyone, declares his love for Bhagya, and marries her on the spot.

Siddhappa earlier warned that something significant would happen within 24 hours, hinting at this retaliatory move.

Gabbar learns that Siddhappa is trying to bribe the high command with 5 crore to secure a party nomination for the upcoming election. Gabbar infiltrates the transaction and steals the money before Siddhappa can use it to gain political leverage, effectively thwarting his rival's plans.

Ajay, who remained uneasy about his role in Siddhappa's schemes, finally reveals to Gabbar that Siddhappa had orchestrated the entire assassination plot. Additionally, Siddhappa himself later reveals that he killed Gabbar's mother while searching for money, trying to force Gabbar to submit to his demands. This dual revelation explains Gabbar's mother's mysterious death.

The timing of her death during Siddhappa's escalating conflict with Gabbar becomes clear with this revelation.

Siddhappa sends goons to disrupt the Kondaveedu market yard to break Gabbar's influence in the region. Since Gabbar is a police officer who consistently obstructs Siddhappa's illegal activities, the market yard attack is a strategic move to create chaos and weaken Gabbar's authority. Gabbar confronts and defeats the goons, reopening the yard and restoring order.

This attack marks the official escalation of open conflict between Gabbar and Siddhappa.

After Gabbar's mother dies, Gabbar attempts to reconcile with his stepfather Naidu. However, Naidu rejects him as an outcast, widening the rift between them. This rejection stems from years of family tension and Gabbar's rebellious behavior, including his departure from home and his confrontational approach. Later, after Naidu suffers a heart attack, Gabbar cares for him, which gradually rekindles their bond.

Naidu's earlier favoritism toward Ajay planted the seeds for this estrangement.

After running away from home as a child and being sent to a boarding school far from Kondaveedu, Gabbar returns twenty-one years later as a Circle Inspector in the same district he once fled. He becomes a tough, principled police officer dedicated to keeping the peace. His choice to serve in Kondaveedu suggests he wants to prove himself and reclaim his territory on his own terms, contrasting his past rejection with authority.

His position as CI directly enables his conflict with Siddhappa and his ability to protect the region.
