Victoria is unsettled by Piper’s deepening immersion in Buddhism, especially since the family itself is only nominally Christian. Timothy, meanwhile, shows almost no reaction to the event, having consumed large amounts of his wife’s lorazepam earlier in the day. In a quiet, private moment, Gaitok approaches Timothy and asks for the gun back, but Timothy denies any knowledge of it, keeping a secret that underscores the fragility of trust in their world.

The dynamics among the group grow tangled as Laurie and Valentin flirt, and three Russian women arrive to confront Aleksei and Vlad.
