Fight for Us

In 1985, the Orapronobis murder a foreign priest who gave last rites to an alleged rebel, and the rebel himself is executed by the group. The killings leave Santa Filomena gripped by fear and mark the brutal reach of the cult.

Following the 1986 EDSA uprising, political detainees are released, among them Jimmy Cordero. The country breathes a sigh of relief as activists gain new freedom to organize. Jimmy begins to build a reputation as a human rights advocate.

Not long after his release, Jimmy marries Trixie, a human rights activist. He embraces his role as an advocate and starts to formalize his commitment to protecting people's rights. The couple's life is marked by hope and tension in a new political era.

Jimmy and Roland travel to Santa Filomena to investigate the latest crime by the Orapronobis. During the mission, Jimmy re-encounters Esper, his former partner, and discovers new information about his past and a possible son with her.

Jimmy learns that he has a son with Esper, Camilo, and he agrees to keep his true paternity a secret from the boy to protect him. The revelation adds emotional complexity to the investigation and family dynamics. The decision reflects the dangers faced by activists and families.

With collusion between the Orapronobis and the army, the level of terror intensifies across the town. Jimmy's group assists in evacuating townspeople first to the church and then to Manila, trying to safeguard civilians from further violence.

Back in Manila, Jimmy declines a friend's invitation to return to the underground movement. He attempts to pursue lawful advocacy and protect nonviolent change, despite pressures from former comrades. The decision foreshadows the danger still surrounding him.

Later, Jimmy and Roland are ambushed while on a mission. Jimmy survives the attack, but his ally Roland is killed. The strike heightens the sense of personal cost in the fight for justice.

After the ambush, Jimmy recovers and, shortly after, Trixie gives birth to their child. The arrival of new life stands in stark contrast to the violence surrounding them. The family grows amid ongoing political turmoil.

Soldiers raid the refugee center, aided by a masked man who labels several barrio residents as rebels. Refugees and human rights activists raise their concerns to the government, exposing the fragility of civilian protections.

Esper and her son Camilo are abducted by the Orapronobis. Esper is beaten and raped by Kumander Kontra in front of Camilo, shocking witnesses and escalating the violence against civilians.

In a hysterical rage, Kontra opens fire, killing Esper, Camilo, and several captured barrio men. The massacre underscores the brutal reach of the militant group and shatters any remaining sense of safety for the town's residents.

The soldiers move the casualties to the town, and Jimmy weeps over the bodies of Esper and his son. The death toll hangs over him as a reminder of the personal cost of political violence.

The film ends with Jimmy contacting an old colleague from the underground, signaling that the fight continues even as personal losses mount. The closing scene leaves his future uncertain but determined.
