Lena, a skilled midwife and gynaecologist, and her husband Serezha, an actor in a regional theatre, share a close and tender relationship, though they lack intimacy. Harbouring suspicions that Serezha is unfaithful, Lena keeps her anxieties private. Instead of addressing her concerns, she begins an affair with various men. As Lena's secret life progresses, it spirals out of control, leading to unforeseen consequences that dramatically alter her original path.
