Ferrari Ki Sawaari

A little boy, Kayo (Kayoze Rustam Deboo) dreams in every moment about cricket, while his father, Rusy, showers him with support and encouragement. Their family stands at the heart of a tight-knit Parsi neighborhood, led by the stern yet fair presence of Behram Deboo, whose honesty and pride shape how they navigate life in Mumbai. Kayo’s talent shines whenever he steps onto a field, but the gear he needs is far beyond what his father can afford, and that gap between dream and reality becomes a recurring hurdle.

Kayo’s school matches reveal a natural flair, and his coach hints at a life-changing opportunity: a cricketing camp at Lord’s with a hefty fee of 1.5 Lakhs. The coach believes Kayo could be the standout, even predicting that a foreign coach might see something special in him during selections in just two weeks. Yet the promise of potential greatness clashes with the harsh truth of money, leaving Rusy weighing impossible choices to keep his boy’s dream alive.

To bridge the gap, Rusy considers every legal route, even contemplating a loan against his EPF—only to hit roadblocks at every bank. Then a bold, morally gray avenue emerges: a wedding planner named Babbu Didi, who needs a fabulous Ferrari for a client’s wedding that night, offering a path to the funds if Rusy can pull it off for two days and one night. The plan hinges on a single, almost mythical asset—the Ferrari once owned by a sports icon—an asset Rusy believes could turn the tides for Kayo.

The idea pressures Behram to reexamine his own stance on sports, and Rusy shares a tale about a former cricketer, Dilip N. Dharmadhikari, who betrayed a friend to secure a spot in the Indian cricket team, tearing apart the trust between teammates. The story fuels Behram’s skepticism, yet Rusy’s determination remains unshaken. With no easy loans forthcoming, the improvised plan hinges on a risky theft: Rusy borrows the gleaming red Ferrari, hoping to repay 1.5 Lakhs in a hurry. A house maid, Mohan, and a security guard, Mahavir, uncover the car’s absence, prompting them to seek help from a stolen-car dealer.

What follows is a sequence of tight decisions and quick fixes. Rusy manages to retrieve the money from the impounded car after a tense turn of events, and Behram navigates a delicate balance between pride and his love for his son. The Lord’s camp finally calls Kayo in, and the day of selections arrives. But when Dilip announces that Kayo’s parents cannot afford the camp, Rusy steps in with the cash, hoping to tilt the scales in his boy’s favor. Behram, sensing the stakes, joins the effort by taking a calculated risk to help them reach their goal.

That night—and in the days that follow—the tension escalates. Behram and Rusy drive through the city’s lanes in the Ferrari, a flash of possibility and danger unfolding on Mumbai’s streets. Pakhya, Tatyasaheb Mandke’s son, arrives with his own demand to borrow the car for a short spell, and a clash erupts. In the wake of the confrontation, Kayo disappears, and the pursuit becomes a matter of public record as media coverage broadcasts the family’s address live. The coach hears the news, tracks down Kayo, and brings him back to Rusy, who urges the return of the money.

In a final turn of fate, the community—including Babbu Didi and bank managers who had previously refused loans—bands together. Donations flow, totaling 1.5 Lakhs, enabling Kayo to travel to London and join Sachin Tendulkar’s legendary circuit for a chance to play at Lord’s. The film closes with a sense of reconciliation and collective belief: the dream endures, and the family’s effort—woven through hardship, risk, and resilience—has given Kayo the opportunity to chase a future on the world stage.
