Felix the Cat: The Movie

When the Duke's robotic army captures Princess Oriana, she sheds a magical tear that flies into the Dimensporter instead of her. The tear is imbued with her desperation and need for a hero, and it travels through the dimensional portal to find its way to Felix, who happens to be napping beneath a palm tree in his own world. The tear acts as a magical beacon, specifically drawn to summon a champion capable of saving Oriana.

The fortune-teller Pearl's warning about the Duke's invasion sets the desperate situation that creates the magical tear.

The Duke was originally a brilliant scientist in Oriana who clashed with the kingdom's pacifist traditions. A laboratory accident left him severely disfigured, after which he rebuilt his body into a mechanical shell to survive. This transformation, combined with being banished to the Land of Zill for seeking the royal secrets, drove him to return with a mechanized army seeking revenge against the kingdom that rejected him.

The princess mentions the Duke's scientific background when explaining his history to Felix.

The Duke forces Oriana to reveal the location of the Book of Ultimate Power, believing it contains ancient royal secrets and great power. However, when he obtains and reads it, the contents prove completely useless to him. The book apparently contains knowledge or power that only the rightful rulers of Oriana can access, or it simply doesn't contain what the Duke expected, likely because his mechanical nature and evil intentions prevent him from wielding its magic.

The Duke's obsession with obtaining royal secrets is established early in the film.

When the Duke unleashes Master Cylinder to destroy the heroes, Felix throws the Book of Ultimate Power directly at the massive machine. The Book's contact with Master Cylinder's mechanical systems causes a short circuit that breaks down the machine and simultaneously shuts down all the other Cylinder robots throughout the kingdom. This clever thrown weapon becomes the unexpected key to defeating the Duke's entire army.

Pim initially offers to guide Felix through the dangerous Land of Zill swamp, but this turns out to be a trap orchestrated by the Duke's loyal circus owner Wack Lizardi. Felix cleverly slips out of his cell and discovers that Princess Oriana is being held in an adjacent cell within the same fortress. This allows them to meet and for Oriana to explain the Duke's origin before they plan their escape together.

After Master Cylinder is destroyed and the rest of the Cylinder army shuts down, the Duke is left powerless. He flees from the castle, swearing that he will return one day to exact revenge on Felix and the kingdom. The Duke escapes rather than being captured or destroyed, leaving the possibility of his return in future adventures.

Felix carries a magical bag that is his signature tool throughout the movie. The bag allows him to fly, which he uses to escape from Wack's circus with the princess during a performance. The bag also contains various magical items that help him throughout his journey. The Professor and Poindexter are specifically trying to steal this bag because of its powerful properties.

The Dimensporter is an ancient device hidden in a cavern beneath Oriana's castle that can transport people to other dimensions. It was originally activated by Oriana and Pearl in an attempt to escape the Duke's invasion. The tear from the princess travels through it to find Felix, and Felix uses the machine in the abandoned gold mine in his own dimension to travel to Oriana. At the film's end, Oriana uses it to send Felix and the others back home, making it a two-way portal.
