Fantastic Planet

In a distant future, the Draags transport humans, referred to as Oms, from Earth to their technologically advanced planet known as Ygam. On this new planet, the Draags see the Oms as inferior beings, treating them as mere animals and often keeping them as pets.

The story begins with a tragic event where an Om mother is brutally tortured to death by three Draag children. This horrific act leaves her infant son orphaned and vulnerable in the world of the Draags.

The orphaned infant is discovered by Master Sinh, a prominent Draag leader, and his compassionate daughter Tiwa. Tiwa adopts the boy, naming him Terr, and treats him as a pet, but her parents impose a collar on him to control his movements.

As Tiwa introduces Terr to her educational sessions, he unwittingly gains knowledge through a flaw in his collar. This initiates his journey towards understanding the Draag society and its complexities over the years.

While growing into her teenage years, Tiwa enters Draag meditation training, a practice that enhances the connection to their thoughts and wisdom. As Tiwa's independence grows, she increasingly neglects Terr, who matures with his developing intellect.

Realizing he must escape his captivity, Terr takes the opportunity to flee into the wild, taking Tiwa's headset with him. This marks a turning point, allowing him to venture into the unknown and seek freedom.

In the wilderness, Terr meets a fierce female Om who recognizes his trapped potential. She severs his collar and invites him to join her tribe in an abandoned Draag theme park filled with strange creatures and vivid landscapes.

Within the tribe, Terr utilizes the headset to teach the Oms about Draag knowledge and literacy. His teachings foster mutual respect and leadership, allowing him to participate in tribal traditions, including a duel.

Using his newfound literacy, Terr and the tribe decipher a dire Draag announcement detailing an impending purge against Oms. As the Draags initiate their attack, a violent battle ensues, resulting in casualties.

During their escape from the Draag attack, Terr and his tribe find temporary refuge in an abandoned Draag rocket facility. Their presence there causes alarm among Draag leaders, fueling their determination to eliminate the Oms.

Over the years, more Oms join Terr's group, inspired by his knowledge and skills. Together, they successfully replicate Draag technology, building two rockets and dreaming of escaping to the serene moon called the Fantastic Planet.

As the Oms prepare for their escape, a devastating Draag purge launches against them, resulting in significant losses. In a last resort, Terr leads a group aboard the rockets in a daring attempt to reach the Fantastic Planet.

Upon arriving at the Fantastic Planet, the Oms discover colossal statues that Draags used for intergalactic meditation rituals. Convinced that destroying these statues will protect their freedom, the Oms decide to take action.

In an act of defiance, the Oms destroy several of the Draag statues, jeopardizing the Draags' existence and their ability to connect with intergalactic beings. This bold move forces the Draags to confront their future regarding the Oms.

Faced with the prospect of extermination, the Draags negotiate a peace treaty with the Oms to halt the violence. In a mutually beneficial agreement, the Oms agree to leave the Fantastic Planet in exchange for a new home in orbit around Ygam, marking a new era.
