Elektra chooses to spare them because spending time with Mark and Abby awakens her capacity for compassion, which she had lost after being expelled from Stick's training. When she discovers her targets are the same people she has formed an emotional connection with, a grieving father and a young girl who shares her struggle with OCD, she cannot go through with the assassination. This decision marks her shift from being a cold contract killer to someone who protects the innocent.

The Treasure is Abby Miller, a young girl who is revealed to be a martial arts prodigy with extraordinary abilities. According to legend, she is the 'motherless daughter' who could shift the balance between good and evil. Both The Hand (evil) and Stick's group, the Chaste (good), want to acquire her, The Hand to use her powers for their purposes, while Stick wants to protect her.

Kimagure is an ancient martial arts technique taught by Stick that grants practitioners two key abilities: foresight (seeing the future) and the power to resurrect the dead. Elektra learns this technique after being brought back to life by Stick following her death in Daredevil. These abilities prove crucial in the final battle, where she uses foresight to anticipate attacks and later resurrects Abby after she is poisoned.

Elektra resurrects Abby using the Kimagure technique she learned from Stick. After Typhoid poisons Abby with the same 'Kiss of Death' attack that nearly killed Elektra, Elektra channels her newly mastered abilities to bring the girl back from death. This moment represents Elektra overcoming her deep-seated anger and fully embracing the compassionate side that Stick had been trying to cultivate throughout the film.

Stick arranges for the murder contract targeting Mark and Abby as a test to evaluate Elektra's capacity for compassion. He explains that the contract was part of a larger test to see if she had truly abandoned her ruthless assassin lifestyle. By giving her targets she would genuinely care about, Stick wanted to determine whether she could choose compassion over completion of her mission, the key indicator of whether she had overcome her anger and was ready to embrace her destiny.

Elektra defeats Kirigi through a combination of factors: her Kimagure powers allow her to anticipate his attacks, and Abby's unexpected arrival distracts him long enough for Elektra to recover. After their initial confrontation where Kirigi overpowers her, Elektra retreats to her childhood home where she recalls Kirigi as the man who killed her mother. This personal stakes fuel her determination, and with Abby's help in the hedge maze, she gains the upper hand and kills Kirigi.

Elektra's mother was killed by The Hand during their pursuit of Abby, who they recognized as the Treasure with extraordinary powers.
