Sarika Urmila Matondkar is a single woman living in Mumbai who works at a travel agency and keeps to herself. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she meets Karan Singh Rathod Saif Ali Khan, and what begins as a hesitant attraction quickly deepens into a relationship. One evening, Karan asks Sarika to host a friend who is new to the city for a couple of hours. She agrees, not knowing that this guest will drag her into a dangerous web. The man arrives with a suitcase and asks to leave it behind for a quick pickup before his flight, and Sarika obliges. When that same night the news reveals that the man is a wanted criminal, Sarika is stunned. A phone call from Karan sends her into a panic: he tells her to get rid of the suitcase, and Sarika steps out to do as instructed. In that moment, plainclothes police intercept her, and Sarika is arrested.

Inside the courtroom, Karan’s influence becomes suddenly clear. He urges Sarika to speak to his lawyer, Kamlesh Mathur [Aditya Srivastava], and to avoid mentioning his name, arguing that her silence would protect his reputation in business. After a tough first hearing and a bail denial, the attorney pushes Sarika to plead guilty with the hope of a lighter sentence. Believing the lawyer’s assurances that a judge will show leniency, Sarika confesses. Yet the judge delivers a harsh verdict: seven years in prison without parole. The crushing realization hits that Karan and Mathur have manipulated the system to keep themselves safe while she takes the fall. The shock of the betrayal and the death of Sarika’s father deepen her resolve, setting the stage for a slow, painful transformation behind bars.

In prison, Sarika’s simmering anger and fear crystallize into a plan for change. She faces down an abusive inmate, Gomati [Rasika Joshi], and with the quiet support of Pramila [Pratima Kazmi], an inmate who has outside contacts, she begins to chart a path toward freedom. Her fear of rats becomes a symbol of the fear she must conquer, and she does so with growing courage, even as she earns the respect of fellow inmates. A kitchen fire sparks a broader escape attempt, and along with a few others, Sarika makes a bid for liberty. The escape triggers a manhunt led by ACP Malti Vaidya [Seema Biswas], a determined officer who refuses to let a fugitive slip away.

On the road to Delhi, Sarika tracks Karan to learn the truth about his connections and his whereabouts. The pursuit intensifies when Karan is entangled with the gangster Sanjiv Nanda [Zak ir Hussain], whom he owes money to, and whose men threaten him. The tension rises as Karan’s world grows murkier: his girlfriend is with him, and the danger surrounding them escalates. Karan is kidnapped during a nightclub confrontation by Sanjeev’s henchmen and is brought before Bilal, Sanjeev’s partner, who is preparing a meet with Sanjeev. The scene turns deadly when Sanjeev is found dead, and suspicion immediately falls on Karan.

In a brutal sequence, Karan and his girlfriend come under attack in a hotel, and several henchmen are killed. Karan manages to escape just as ACP Malti closes in on the scene. Back on the ground, Karan confronts a supposed traitor, and the man refuses to reveal anything—prompting Karan to act decisively and violently. Sarika, meanwhile, stages a calculated ruse, feigning sympathy for Karan as she quietly feeds a growing suspicion that she knows more than she’s saying. The cat-and-mouse game intensifies as Karan drags Sarika to his boss to force a confession, gun in hand. Sarika replies with feigned ignorance, claiming Karan forced her to confess—a lie that triggers a violent confrontation between Karan and the boss’s henchman as the ACP bursts in with the police.

A fierce shootout ensues, and the ACP kills Karan’s boss, though she herself is wounded in the exchange. Karan makes a narrow escape, only to be hunted down again by Sarika, who traps him in a secluded spot and pins him down with a gun. After subduing him, she drives him to a remote cavern infested with rats and reveals a crucial truth: she once feared rats, but she has chosen this place precisely so he would endure the same pain she endured. She leaves him bound and alone as the night closes in.

Karan’s screams fade into the darkness, unheard by anyone except the creeping rats. The pack advances, and the brutal toll of the prison’s memory becomes his end. In a final act of resolve, Sarika turns herself in to ACP Malti, returning the bag of money she had stolen from Karan’s boss. The journey—from fear to fury to calculated justice—frames a powerful, self-determined arc for a woman who refused to remain a pawn in a cruel scheme.
