Dumb and Dumber

Lloyd Christmas, a simple-minded limousine driver, becomes infatuated with his passenger, Mary Swanson, during her ride to the airport. This fleeting moment sets the stage for the chaos that follows as Lloyd tries to reconnect with her.

After Mary leaves behind her briefcase, Lloyd quickly grabs it just moments before a couple of thugs arrive to claim it. He misses his chance to catch Mary, leading to a comical tumble off the jet-way.

Meanwhile, Lloyd's roommate, Harry Dunne, finds himself struggling in his pet grooming business after investing everything into a sheepdog-themed van. Both men soon face feelings of despair as job opportunities slip away.

The thugs mistakenly believe Lloyd is connected to the Swansons and confront the duo at their home. The friends narrowly escape by exiting through the back window, still clutching the briefcase.

After their close encounter with the thugs, Harry suffers the loss of his pet parakeet, further deepening their stress. This predicament pushes Lloyd to take action and devise a plan to leave Providence.

Lloyd convinces Harry to embark on an adventurous trip to Aspen, Colorado, under the guise of returning the briefcase to Mary. Although Harry is hesitant at first, Lloyd's enthusiasm eventually wins him over.

On their road trip, the duo has a humorous yet intense encounter with a man named Sea Bass at a diner. After a misunderstanding involving a saltshaker, they attempt to make amends, resulting in a hasty getaway.

In a twist of fate, Lloyd and Harry unwittingly pick up one of the thugs, Joe 'Mental' Mentalino, during their journey. Their plans take a dark turn when they accidentally poison him with rat poison at a lunch stop.

After taking a wrong turn, Harry grows frustrated and decides to walk home, leaving Lloyd to find a creative solution. Lloyd trades their van for a scooter, enabling them to continue their quest to Aspen.

Upon arriving in Aspen, Lloyd and Harry discover that the briefcase contains a fortune in ransom money. They decide to live lavishly, indulging in luxury accommodations and extravagant purchases, oblivious to the consequences.

Lloyd's attempts to win over Mary are complicated by her increasing friendship with Harry. This tension builds as Lloyd struggles to express his feelings while also trying to keep their plans intact.

Lloyd finally confronts Mary, inviting her to the hotel to return her briefcase, but their moment turns chaotic when Nicholas Andre confronts them at gunpoint. The situation escalates quickly, putting them all in danger.

Just as things appear hopeless, Harry bursts in and defies the odds, insisting he’d rather be shot than let Lloyd die. The chaos culminates with the intervention of the FBI, who reveal they have been tracking the kidnapping all along.

After the dust settles, Mary is reunited with her husband, leaving Lloyd heartbroken as he learns of her marital status. Feeling defeated and without any money left, the friends begin their journey back home.

As they stroll back home, Lloyd and Harry reflect on their misadventures and share a renewed sense of hope. Harry reminds Lloyd that despite their setbacks, they must keep their eyes open for future opportunities.
