Lauren Curran suffers a traumatic event during a home invasion, leading to physical injuries and the tragic loss of their baby. This incident triggers the onset of her bipolar disorder, which significantly impacts her mental health and relationship with her husband, Russell.

In search of a fresh start and sanctuary, Russell and Lauren move to a luxurious smart apartment located an hour from Portland. They hope that this new environment will provide healing and stability for Lauren's mental health as they settle into their opulent surroundings.

Shortly after moving in, Russell and Lauren attend a cocktail party at their new apartment complex. They mingle with wealthy residents, including Phillip Starks, who runs a successful marketing firm, leading to an unsettling introduction into their new community.

Lauren begins to hear strange noises coming from the apartment's sound system and sees odd images flashing on their TV. When she tries to share her concerns with Russell, he dismisses her worries, attributing them to her mental health issues, which isolates her further.

In an attempt to control the situation, Russell secretly installs CCTV cameras in their apartment to monitor Lauren's behavior. His actions only deepen Lauren's sense of paranoia and isolation, making her feel watched and distrusted.

Through her desperate internet searches, Lauren connects with Vernon Sarsfield, a hacker and journalist. He validates her fears about the apartment, revealing a conspiracy where residents are subjects in a psychological experiment involving subliminal messaging.

Lauren meets a resident who appears out of place and confesses to her that he is 'not one of them.' Tragically, he jumps off the building's roof, which heightens Lauren’s sense of danger and solidifies her belief that something sinister is happening.
