A violent saga begins when a schooner vanishes without a trace. Years later, clues of survivors lead Jose’s mother to charter a tuna‑fishing boat to search. They find the young mate thriving on a South‑Sea island, but when he refuses to return, they kidnap him. In retaliation, Jose steers the vessel into the domain of a colossal, mysterious manta ray.
