Alberto, a Chicano, lives with his brother Dany’s family and studies at UCLA with Professor Bob’s help. His friend Jimy Joe, who lives with sister Estela, is in a rehab run by Many to quit drugs. After Estela sees Jimy beaten by a gang, Alberto meets her at a club and they become a couple. Jimy survives; his surgery is paid by a benefit concert where Alberto sings, and afterward Jimy dances in the street with Alberto and Estela.
