Deep Crimson

Coral, a nurse at a morgue and mother of two, answers a lonely hearts ad by Nicolás Estrella who claims to resemble the French actor Boyer. Nicolás reads her letter and then arrives at Coral's home both during the day and again at night. They begin an intimate relationship, and Nicolás consumes Coral's trust before slipping away with her money.

They sleep together until Nicolás steals Coral's money and leaves her behind. The betrayal unsettles Coral and plants the seeds for her pursuit of him. The incident occurs at Coral's home after their initial encounter.

Coral tracks Nicolás to his residence with her two young children. She tries to persuade him to start a life together, but he refuses, saying he doesn't want to raise her children. Time: Day.

The next morning, Coral leaves her children at a convent and returns to Nicolás. She uncovers Nicolás's scam of seducing and robbing lonely women and decides to join him as an accomplice. Time: Morning.

Coral resolves to become Nicolás's partner in crime and even offers to pose as his sister as they scheme together. They adopt new identities and begin targeting other women. Time: Day.

The couple targets Juanita Norton, an older widow who answered Nicolás's ad. Coral poisons Juanita's cocktail in a fit of jealousy during a bar encounter, then they abandon her to die at a train station after stealing her purse. Time: Evening. Place: Bar.

During a morning car ride, Nicolás's toupee flies off and becomes stained, enraging him. Coral, using her nursing skills, repairs the toupee and moves to keep up the deception. Time: Morning.

Nicolás and Irene marry at a cemetery gravesite, an apparently sacred setting for their union. Later that night, Coral announces she is in love with Nicolás and Irene learns of the budding conflict. Time: Night. Place: Gravesite.

At Irene's motel room, Coral denounces Irene as adulterous and, when Irene turns away, strikes her with a statue of Jesus, killing her. The couple cleans the scene and contemplates their next steps. Time: Night. Place: Motel.

Coral and Nicolás hide the crime, bury Irene in an unmarked grave, and cling to their bond despite the mounting guilt that gnaws at them. Time: Next day. Place: Cemetery.

Rebeca Sanpedro, a widow with a young daughter, hires Nicolás to run her mechanic shop. Nicolás seduces and impregnates Rebeca while Coral helps by secretly poisoning her with anticoagulants. Time: Months later. Place: Rebeca's home and shop.

When Rebeca is about to deliver, Nicolás murders her and Coral drowns Rebeca's young daughter, sealing another brutal crime. The couple sinks deeper into guilt and fear. Time: Months later. Place: Rebeca's home.

Overcome by the crimes, Nicolás phones the authorities and they surrender to the local authorities. They are sentenced to death and await execution. Time: Morning. Place: Jail.

On the morning of their execution, Coral proclaims it has been the happiest day of her life as she and Nicolás are shot to death, lying side by side in a puddle of water. The duet ends in tragedy and mutual demise. Time: Morning. Place: Execution site.
