Dead Island

Survivors wake to a hotel in crisis after a party as an emergency intercom orders immediate evacuation. They quickly realize a deadly virus has erupted, turning most people into psychopathic killers. A sudden attack by an infected is narrowly repelled when lifeguard John Sinamoi arrives to pull them to safety.

The hotel falls silent as The Voice that promised guidance disappears. The group senses both danger and a possible outside path, and Sinamoi’s uneasy trust that help might exist beyond the resort motivates them to leave in search of supplies. They resolve to scavenge and find any route to the outside world.

Jin, daughter of a bitten mechanic, joins the group and helps repurpose an armored vehicle to breach barricades. Her skills prove crucial as they prepare to leave the resort behind in search of more resources. The team accelerates toward the next phase of survival.

The survivors push through danger as they travel from the resort toward the island city of Moresby. The route tests their resolve and tightens their makeshift alliance aboard a battered convoy. The trip marks a shift from shelter to active scavenging in a hostile landscape.

In Moresby, the group encounters the Ram, a formidable infected foe that demands close-quarters combat. The encounter forces them to rely on limited resources and each other’s skills to survive. It underscores the escalating danger of the new world they navigate.

They lend aid to a holdout inside a barricaded church, bargaining for safety and information amid the chaotic streets. The encounter reveals both the ruthlessness and the dwindling humanity of the survivors around them. The church becomes a temporary sanctuary in the sprawling ruin.

Pushing deeper into the city, they attempt a desperate raid on a supermarket controlled by ruthless Raskol gangs. The crew fights through hostile factions to secure supplies and fuel their onward trek. The operation showcases both cunning and peril in the new order.

Jin’s attempt to broker more supplies with another Raskol faction leads her to an abandoned police station where she is captured and brutalized. The rescue by Raskol criminals reshapes group dynamics, pushing Sam and Logan toward protective, uneasy stances toward Jin. The line between ally and threat becomes increasingly blurred.

Back at the resort, The Voice returns and reveals Colonel Ryder White, commander of the island defense force, trapped on a distant prison island. He claims the group’s immunity could help develop a cure and sends them to find smuggler Mowen who can reach the prison. The mission pivots from scavenging to a high-stakes rescue and salvation plan.

Mowen guides the survivors to a lab where researchers deduce the infection is a mutation of Kuru from indigenous roots. At the scientists’ urging, they collect tissue from a native mummy and rescue Yerema, a native woman, after a tense negotiation. The stop marks a turning point toward understanding the pathogen and potential cures.

A cascade of experiments at the lab releases a race of zombies, leaving Yerema as the sole survivor to witness the catastrophe. The survivors orchestrate a desperate rescue of Yerema and recover what appears to be a prototype vaccine. They prepare to push on toward the prison island with this fragile hope.

Arriving at the prison island, the survivors help arm the remaining inmates in a bid to reach White. But White’s plan to abandon the prisoners and call in a nuclear purge becomes evident, turning the mission into a race against time and a test of loyalty. Tensions spike as the group confronts a nihilistic endgame.

On the rooftop helipad, White confronts the survivors with a gun and his ultimate plan. Jin’s act frees White’s zombified wife, who bites White on the wrist, triggering a brutal chain of events. White kills his wife, injects himself with the vaccine, and promptly accelerates his own mutation as the survivors rally for a last stand.

The survivors kill White and escape the island aboard his helicopter. Kevin, a tech-savvy prisoner, declares that things will never be the same again, signaling a hard-won but uncertain future beyond the island. The flight marks the end of one fight and the uncertain beginning of another.
