Nathalie Stein is exhausted by a bitter divorce from Tim and is determined to shield her two children from him. Tim arrives to pick up the kids, signaling a possible last contact, but he does not return with them. The strain of the custody fight sets a tense, anxious mood in the home.

Nathalie's dog disappears under mysterious circumstances, heightening her fear. She finds a paper in blood with the Persian word 'Dard' scrawled on it, a chilling clue that something violent is at work. She reports the clue to the police, who say they can't act without a crime scene.

Hoping to confront Tim and get answers, Nathalie arranges to meet him and the kids in Chinatown, but they fail to show. The police declare they cannot intervene without more concrete evidence. The search for her children becomes a waiting game.

That evening Tim shows up at the house badly injured and insists the children have been abducted. He urges Nathalie to contact the police again, and she does, clinging to the hope of rescue. The news elevates the sense that danger is closing in.

Detective James Gates arrives to question Nathalie, but the body is missing and the crime scene has been cleaned, casting doubt on her story. The case stalls as no physical proof supports the abduction. Nathalie feels increasingly isolated and blamed.

Officer Phil Warren, revealed as corrupt, confronts Nathalie and subdues her. Through flashbacks he explains Tim’s supposed involvement in a drug deal with the Persian mafioso Maho. He tortures Nathalie in a bid to force the location of drugs and money from her.

Nathalie breaks free and defeats Warren, killing him with a broken bottle in a desperate act of self-defense. The immediate danger seems to be over, though the truth of what happened remains murky. The sequence pushes her toward an uncertain, dark path.

A mysterious man named Daniel appears, claiming to have been tracking Warren. He tends to Nathalie’s wounds and offers help, but his account of Tim’s actions hints at a more dangerous agenda. His presence deepens Nathalie’s distrust as she tries to piece together what really happened.

Daniel's actions take a darker turn as he drugs Nathalie and disposes of Warren’s corpse. He presents himself as a helper while his true motives remain murky. The line between ally and threat becomes increasingly blurred.

In a tense confrontation, Nathalie overcomes Daniel. She head-butts him and uses a hypodermic to strike at him, finally killing him with a knife. The house grows colder as the danger shifts to a different ally turned foe.

While severely wounded, Nathalie reaches the stairs where Detective Gates, still corrupt, forces Elisabeth into the line of danger. He orders Nathalie to reveal the location of the money and drugs, threatening her daughter if she moves. The fear for her child sharpens her resolve.

Recalling Tim's old children's song and the dogs' disappearance, Nathalie and Elisabeth decipher a riddle that points to the buried stash. In the ensuing struggle, Gates shoots Elisabeth in the shoulder, heightening the stakes. Nathalie returns fire and shoots Gates, ending his threat.

In a final confrontation by a cornfield, Tim waits with their son, and the true story is laid bare: Gates used Tim as an informer to obtain the money and drugs. Tim had killed the mafioso and retrieved the goods, while Tim himself is shot by Elisabeth as he aims at Nathalie. A tense family confrontation ends with a fragile sense of closure.

With the danger behind them, Nathalie and the children begin a new life together. The past is resolved, and they move forward as a family free from the corrupt officers and the violent web around them. The film ends on a quiet note of renewed hope.
