Dan Bellows discovers Joyce Heath, a once‑famous stage actress now a penniless, alcoholic “jinx,” and brings her to his Connecticut home to sober up. He convinces his fiancée, Gail, to release him from obligations while he finances Joyce’s comeback in a new production, only to find her still as volatile and dangerous as ever.
