On a blistering desert road, Donald Duck and Goofy find their car broken down and running dry, forcing them to trudge along under a relentless sun. The heat takes its toll quickly, and [Donald Duck] collapses from dehydration while [Goofy] rummages for relief. He produces a canteen and takes a swig, but [Donald Duck] snatches it back, insisting they’re utterly lost. A small moment of comic chaos follows as [Goofy] unveils a tiny map with a magnifying glass, only for the sun’s rays to ignite the page. In a panic, [Goofy] grabs the canteen to douse the flare, wasting every precious drop. The final bead of water sinks into the sand, and [Donald Duck] immediately starts digging in a search for moisture beneath the dune.
With water clearly gone, Goofy decides to strike out on his own, heading west into the heat. The duo’s misfortunes take a surreal turn when a shimmering mirage appears: a soda fountain beckons, and [Goofy] hopes to wet his whistle. The illusion is punctured when a figure materializes—the [Oasis Soda Fountain Proprietor]—and Goofy asks for a soothing drink. Just as the first sip seems within reach, the soda vanishes, leaving only heat and sand. The spirit repeats the gesture, offering two more sodas that disappear as soon as they’re touched, then four more that fail to appear as promised. After a brief moment of whistling, Goofy tries to grab all four at once, but they vanish again. Frustrated, he refuses the proprietor’s demand and is told he owes six bucks, a demand he balks at. The phantom proprietor then forces Goofy to scrub several dishes, turning the desert’s mirage into a bizarre, otherworldly kitchen.
Meanwhile, the exhausted [Donald Duck] searches for water in the heat and comes across another mirage—a great iceberg. He rushes to embrace it, only for the icy promise to melt away into air. He repeats the futile gesture, each time meeting the same vanishing illusion of relief, and the melt-ice scene mirrors the earlier water crisis in a funny, stubborn loop.
The two friends collide in a tangle of frustration, knocking over more dishes in the process. The angry spirit reappears, drawing a sword as the cartoon’s tension escalates. [Goofy] and [Donald Duck] sprint away, stumbling toward a glimmer of safety: a camel appears in the distance. They leap aboard and ride to safety, escaping the blistering desert as the strange encounter fades, and the cartoon closes on a note of relief after a long, comic misadventure.
