Corvette Summer

In the sun-drenched streets of Newhall, California, high school senior and passionate car lover, Kenny Dantley, takes on an extraordinary project for his shop class. He decides to save a 1973 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray from the clutches of a relentless car crusher at a junkyard, pouring his heart and soul into restoring it into a dazzling right-hand-drive machine, complete with eye-catching modifications. However, his pride and joy are short-lived as the magnificent vehicle is stolen right off the streets of Van Nuys, leaving Kenny feeling distraught and powerless.

Refusing to accept defeat, Kenny embarks on a determined adventure to Las Vegas, vowing to reclaim his beloved car. During his journey, he encounters Vanessa, a bold and alluring drifter who light-heartedly identifies herself as a “prostitute trainee”. As Kenny starts working at a local car wash, he continuously spots his stolen Corvette, but attempts to alert the authorities are frustrated by the presence of a forged tag. Faced with relentless obstacles and growing frustration, Kenny tracks down the thief, Wayne Lowry, who operates out of a rundown garage. A tense confrontation with Wayne, however, leaves him shaken and questioning his next move.

Just as he feels utterly defeated, a surprising twist unfolds when his high school teacher, Ed McGrath, appears in Las Vegas with shocking news. It turns out McGrath orchestrated the car theft to make ends meet on his meager teacher’s salary, crushing Kenny’s faith in the mentor he once admired. Despite McGrath’s desperate plea to keep this revelation a secret, Kenny is fueled by feelings of betrayal, plotting his revenge with a newfound resolve.

As the tension escalates, Kenny takes bold action, pulling off an audacious heist to reclaim his beloved Corvette, strategically outsmarting Lowry’s shady henchmen and engaging in a thrilling car chase. Meanwhile, Vanessa finds herself in a dire predicament, targeted by adult filmmakers in a hotel, prompting Kenny to rush to her aid.

Ultimately, Kenny emerges triumphant, returning home not only with his Corvette but also with his high school diploma in hand. Yet, he chooses to deny McGrath’s attempts to reconcile their strained friendship. With Vanessa by his side, Kenny makes a significant gesture by donating the Corvette back to his school, marking a fresh start in his life as they ride into the sunset together, embracing his newfound independence and the exciting road ahead.
