Coquille

In the quiet town of Hiroseyama, where memories linger like the tide's gentle pull, Tatsuya Urayama attends a class reunion thirty years after graduation. Now a factory worker with a wife and the weight of routine on his shoulders, he steps into a gathering that promises nothing more than nostalgic small talk. But the past has a way of resurfacing when least expected, and among the familiar faces stands Naoko, a woman whose presence stirs something long dormant in his heart.

Naoko has returned to her hometown after a divorce, bringing her teenage daughter Kaori with her. She now runs an intimate bar called "Coquille," a name drawn from a Jean Cocteau poem that speaks of shells longing for the sound of the sea. The bar itself feels like a vessel of forgotten dreams, its atmosphere thick with unspoken histories and the quiet melancholy of roads not taken. Naoko has carried a white shell and a line of poetry for three decades—tokens from a poetry book given to her by a boy she once loved, though time and circumstance kept them apart.

As Tatsuya begins visiting Coquille, drawn by curiosity and something deeper he cannot name, the two middle-aged classmates find themselves navigating the delicate terrain of shared memories and lingering what-ifs.
