At the snowbound cabin, Min-ho and See-hee end their affair and hatch a plan to erase Seon-jae's involvement after a deer-related crash. They decide to dispose of the other car and its dead driver to keep their secret from coming to light. The pair begins laying the groundwork for a clean story to protect their reputations.

After leaving the cabin, the crash results in Seon-jae's death in the other car. Min-ho and See-hee decide to discard the vehicle and the body, hoping no one will link it to them. Seon-jae's father, Young-seok, a passing mechanic, becomes involved at the scene, and Min-ho has his lawyer destroy the implicated company car and report it stolen.

Seon-jae's disappearance is reported to the police, and descriptions of See-hee and the car surface, making See-hee a person of interest. The case links See-hee to Seon-jae's fate and expands the investigation beyond a simple affair. Min-ho and See-hee's attempts to erase the truth begin to unravel as investigators close in.

In the present day, crack defense attorney Yang Shin-ae travels to Min-ho's remote cabin to decide whether to take the case. She begins to connect dots between the hotel murder and Seon-jae's disappearance while weighing her options. The tense arrival sets the stage for a battle over truth and strategy.

Inside the cabin, Min-ho clings to an unseen-attacker story, while Shin-ae senses a deeper conspiracy entwining See-hee and Seon-jae's family. Their conversation exposes fault lines in both versions of events and hints at the motive behind the alleged blackmailer.

Shin-ae reveals she lied about Seon-jae's mother working at the hotel to force Min-ho to tell the truth. The tactic pressures Min-ho to open up and signals that she will use any method necessary to uncover the facts. The exchange tightens the stakes as both players test each other's resolve.

See-hee feels guilty and enlists Young-seok to confess, but Min-ho murders See-hee during a hotel meeting and allows himself to be arrested by the police. The plan to pin the crime on others collapses as the killer reveals himself. This murder shifts the narrative from cover-up to outright criminal confession.

Min-ho admits that the described sequence is accurate and that he killed See-hee. Shin-ae signs an attorney agreement and proposes planting evidence on Seon-jae's body to make See-hee's role appear complete, showing how far the defense strategy will go. The dialogue signals a dangerous game with the truth now in the hands of those who control the evidence.

It is revealed that Shin-ae is actually Lee Hee-jung, Seon-jae's mother and a retired actress. She and Young-seok had kidnapped the real Yang Shin-ae to stage the meeting and force Min-ho to confess. Min-ho discovers the deception by comparing signatures and confronts Hee-jung.

Hee-jung realizes that Min-ho came to the cabin to retrieve the wrench used to kill Seon-jae. The police begin digging the frozen lake beside the cabin and locate Seon-jae's car buried in the water, confirming the true location of the body. Min-ho is arrested as the full truth comes to light.

With the car recovered and the truth uncovered, police arrest Hee-jung, Young-seok, and others connected to the staged confession. Min-ho faces further charges as the investigation closes in on all participants in the cover-up.
