Saira Banu is a postwoman who leads a peaceful life with her adopted son Joshua Peter. Joshua is the son of the famous photographer Peter George. Peter's unexpected death leaves Saira as a single mother to Joshua.

Joshua takes part in a protest organized by the students of the Government Law College, Ernakulam and ends up assaulting a police officer. He then fakes a fractured hand to justify his conduct, convincing his mother it was a legitimate protest injury. Later, he reveals the lie to Saira.

Joshua expresses a wish to study photography abroad. Saira is initially against this plan but eventually agrees to support his dream.

Joshua becomes involved in a hit-and-run case, leading to his imprisonment. The actual driver is a fellow student from his law college, who escapes scrutiny while Joshua bears the consequences.

A Bengal migrant is murdered in the case, and due to a strong recommendation from the Bengal Government, the case is handled by Advocate Annie John Tharavady, who only takes cases she believes she can win.

With the help of a small-time lawyer named Subbu, whom she befriends, Saira seeks out help from various lawyers. The process is fraught with dead ends as many decline to take the case.

Despite her persistence, no lawyer agrees to defend Joshua. Frustrated, Saira decides to advocate for him herself in court, despite lacking formal legal training.

Though untrained, Saira fights in court for her son, with Subbu's help she begins to uncover the truth behind the case and the weaknesses in the prosecution's narrative.

Saira uncovers that Bengal migrants are being brought to Kerala under phoney names by labour contractors, with multiple labourers registered under the same identity. This revelation reframes the case and exposes systemic fraud.

She also figures out that Annie's son was actually responsible for the migrant's death, as he drove the migrant's car to celebrate his own birthday. This crucial detail reframes the moral landscape of the case.

Saira decides not to blame Annie's son and brings in a labourer who has the same identity as the deceased to the court. The discrepancies in the deceased's ID become apparent, undermining the prosecution's case.

The court sees the ID discrepancies and the weak link in the evidence, leading to the dropping of all charges against Joshua. The legal stalemate collapses as the truth comes to light.

Saira reveals to Annie that she had known the truth but chose to hide it for Joshua's sake. Annie thanks Saira for saving her son's life, recognizing the courage and sacrifice involved.

The movie ends with Saira setting out to find the deceased migrant's family and deliver the news of his death to them, completing a circle of truth and closure.
