To ease the financial pressure, Farhana takes on a job at a bank’s call center, hoping the extra income will translate into some relief for the mounting bills and anxious nights.
When their youngest child Nabha is hospitalized, the family’s expenses spike further, and Farhana is forced to stretch every rupee. She notices that her friend and colleague Nithya earns significant incentives after switching to a different department, a role that happens to be a “friendship” chat line where women workers engage in conversations with male callers.
