“Pain is inevitable. Misery is optional.” Clancy Miller, an abused teen, flees home to avoid social workers. On the streets she meets Nick, a volatile homeless war veteran. A corrupt mayor, eyeing re‑election, bribes Nick to hide her, planning a staged rescue for political gain. After a clash with a loan shark, Nick and Clancy flee to the countryside, where an unlikely bond forms while the mayor escalates a media‑fueled manhunt and a military‑style operation.
