Janaki [Reema Sen] and her sister are NRIs who want to join a PU college in Andhra Pradesh. Janaki stays with her uncle [Banerjee] and procures the admission in the same college as Ramana [Uday Kiran], a die-hard music fan. When Janaki first sees him in the music room practicing, they are drawn to each other, and a quiet spark begins to glow between them.
When Ramana’s family is away, Janaki visits Ramana’s house wearing a saree. She doesn’t know how to drape it, so she simply wraps it around her body. Ramana offers to teach her how to wear a saree and, in the moment, accidentally slips his hand inside her slip, which makes them both feel shy and unexpectedly drawn to each other. What starts as curiosity ripens into a shared passion, and they consummate their feelings.
A few days later, Janaki informs Ramana that she is pregnant. Ramana, along with his friends Chitram Seenu and Chitram Basha, hires a nurse to perform an abortion on Janaki. But Janaki refuses the procedure, explaining that she wants the company of a child. She recalls her mother’s belief that when she dies she will be reborn as Janaki’s child, a concept that colors her outlook on their unborn baby. The college Principal tells her to rest and revisit exams the following year, while Ramana’s parents confront Janaki’s uncle to understand what happened, and he places the blame squarely on Ramana.
Ramana and Janaki soon move into a new house, and Ramana finds work as a guitar player in a club, hoping the new life will stabilize their situation. The couple’s plans begin to unravel when Janaki delivers a baby in the hospital during Ramana’s exams, leaving him unable to focus and perform well on the tests. A college lecturer [Rallapalli Narasimha] steps in, urging him to study despite the distraction, but Ramana’s concern shifts toward Janaki and the baby, complicating his ambitions.
Tensions rise as Ramana’s mounting frustration leads to clashes at home. He loses his job at the club, and Janaki confronts him about the changing dynamic in their relationship. The next day, in a powerful moment, Janaki brings the sleeping baby into the examination hall and leaves the bassinet with the child, hoping it will teach Ramana the true difficulty of raising a child alone. The invigilator holds the crying baby until Ramana finishes his exam, and he returns home with a heavy heart, apologizing and recognizing the need to be present for his family.
Time passes and a new fear unsettles them: the baby goes missing. Ramana searches the city, returning home anxious and worried when he cannot find the child. Janaki arrives with the baby, and Ramana offers a heartfelt apology for his earlier harsh words. Janaki then reveals that she is pregnant again, adding a new layer of uncertainty to their future. Yet despite the trials, the couple faces the road ahead together, and in a quiet, hopeful finale they walk toward the college hand in hand, the baby tucked safely in a bassinet, ready to face whatever comes next. The story closes on a note of resilience, with the couple moving forward as a family, guided by love and new beginnings.
