Maria, who had cared for her father’s household, is murdered in a drive-by shooting during the victory celebration, a chilling reminder of Sommers’s reach. In the wake of the tragedy, China must secure her authority by getting Judge Godar to swear her in as the town’s new sheriff. Once officially deputized, she commissions Matt and Dakota to help dismantle Sommers’s hold on Beaver Creek and to bring him to justice.
The plan starts with decisive action: they bulldoze the house Sommers had used as a base for distributing drugs, signaling a broader crackdown on his network.
