Children of Love

In 2027, the world is suffering from a catastrophic crisis of infertility that has persisted for 18 years. This crisis has plunged societies into chaos, leading to wars and a widespread state of global depression as humanity faces possible extinction.

The United Kingdom has devolved into a repressive police state in order to deal with the overwhelming wave of refugees. Under severe circumstances, individuals fleeing conflict are either imprisoned, deported, or subjected to executions in concentration camps.

Theo Faron, a disillusioned former activist turned bureaucrat, is forcibly taken by a militant group known as the Fishes. The group is led by Julian Taylor, Theo's estranged wife, who had previously separated from him following their son's tragic death in a pandemic.

Julian reveals to Theo that they need his help to get transit papers for a young refugee named Kee. She offers him money in exchange for acquiring the necessary documents, and despite their complicated past, Theo agrees to assist.

During their attempt to escape while traveling towards Canterbury, the group's hopes are shattered when an armed gang ambushes them, resulting in Julian's death. Luke retaliates by killing police officers who are questioning them.

Following the tragedy, Kee reveals an extraordinary secret to Theo: she is pregnant, making her the only known pregnant woman in a world laden with hopelessness. This news shifts their mission as they now must protect Kee and her unborn child.

The group plots their next move to reach the Human Project, which seeks to cure humanity's infertility. They decide to go to a remote location while seeking help from Jasper, Theo's old friend, who has a plan to smuggle them through the UK’s harsh immigration controls.

When the Fishes discover Jasper's location, he makes the devastating choice to stay behind to delay them. He euthanizes his wife and dog before being killed by Luke, sacrificing his life to give Theo, Kee, and Miriam a chance to escape.

Theo and Kee manage to enter Bexhill, a notorious detention center for refugees. There, Kee goes into labor, and they find temporary refuge from the chaos, but the dangers outside continue to escalate as tensions boil between the refugees and British forces.

In the midst of the turmoil, Kee gives birth to a baby girl, representing a glimmer of hope in a broken world. They experience a bittersweet moment of joy amid the escalating conflict as Theo and Kee bond with the newborn.

As chaos ensues, war erupts between British military forces and the refugee camp inhabitants. The danger intensifies when the Fishes attempt to capture Kee and her baby, leading Theo to take desperate measures for their safety.

Theo tracks down the Fishes in an intense standoff, culminating in a confrontation with Luke, who is killed in an explosion. Driven by urgency, Theo escapes Bexhill with Kee and the baby amidst the chaos and destruction.

As airstrikes rain down on Bexhill, Theo and Kee manage to row towards the ship 'Tomorrow', a beacon of hope. Despite his injuries and fading strength, Theo teaches Kee how to care for her baby, symbolizing the continuation of life.

As they successfully reach the rendezvous point, Theo collapses but smiles as Kee decides to name the baby Dylan, honoring their lost child. The sound of children's laughter is heard as the screen cuts to black, embodying hope for the future.
