The film opens in a mental asylum where a bell rings, rousing Abbas Mia and triggering his agitation. A guard injures him for shouting, and a new doctor tends his injuries while asking why the bell affects him. This moment sets up Abbas Mia to begin recounting the tale of Khokon to the doctor.

Khokon is portrayed as a cherished figure at Nilgiri Multipurpose High School, beloved by students, teachers, and Abbas Mia. His mother mourns the loss of her husband, shaping Khokon’s family life. With Eid al-Adha approaching, Khokon plans to visit his maternal grandfather who arrives early to celebrate.

Khokon notices an advertisement for a magic show and asks his mother for permission to attend, which goes well. The moment hints at the boy’s simple joys before the looming absence. This sets the stage for the school day’s end and the subsequent crisis.

At the end of the school day, Khokon waits for his ride but the car arrives late. Abbas Mia locks him inside the washroom, and Khokon initially believes his friends have pranked him. He soon realizes everyone has left and that he is truly trapped.

Back home, Khokon’s mother discovers he’s missing and informs Abbas Mia, who joins the frantic search. They check friends’ houses and the hospital as police are alerted. An announcement is made on car speakers, but Khokon understands that only someone checks the school will hear his screams.

Inside the locked washroom, Khokon drinks from the tap and writes messages on the wall to signal his plight. He clings to hope that someone will come to rescue him as days pass and supplies dwindle. His notes become a lifeline to his story.

Khokon discovers a small window near the ceiling, struggles to reach it, and falls, injuring himself. He then writes a letter in his notebook explaining that he’s trapped, crumples it, and throws it out the window, hoping someone will find it.

With water running low, Khokon finds a sliver of water above a toilet but ends up flushing it away in his moment of need. The desperate circumstances deepen as his hope of rescue fades. He endures the slow suffocation of isolation.

Meanwhile, Abbas Mia dreams of Khokon being locked in the washroom and wakes with a rush to secure the school keys. The principal dismisses the dream as a sign of love rather than prophecy. The dream foreshadows his later guilt.

An announcement promises Eid prayers at the school the next day, but a thunderstorm changes plans and the prayers are moved to the mosque. Khokon, listening from inside, believes he has lost his chance to be heard. The mood shifts from hope to despair.

When the school reopens, Abbas Mia and Anguri ma’am unlock the bathrooms and begin cleaning. Anguri ma’am discovers Khokon’s body in the washroom, triggering screams and a rapid response from students, staff, and police. The truth of his disappearance begins to unfold.

Abbas Mia reads what Khokon wrote on the walls and accepts blame for the boy’s death. The school and Khokon’s mother are informed, and Abbas Mia is arrested as the tragedy sinks in. The community grapples with guilt and closure.

Back in the mental asylum, Abbas Mia finishes the story and notes that everyone else got a break, but he did not. The doctor who heard the tale looks at him with pity as the film ends. The narrative leaves the audience with unresolved guilt.
