Cherry Town

In the optimistic atmosphere of a newly developed district affectionately nicknamed "Our Cheryomushki," hope arrives in the form of a government-issued warrant for a two-room apartment. Lida Baburova, a tour guide at an architectural museum, views this unexpected opportunity as a fresh start for herself and her father. The Zarechye district represents the promise of modern living—a carefully planned neighborhood where families are meant to build new futures amid a spirit of progress and renewal.

Yet anticipation quickly gives way to confusion when Lida and her father arrive to inspect their new flat. Their apartment, according to the building's actual layout, simply does not exist. The building manager, Barabashkin, has manipulated official documents to merge their allotted unit with a neighboring flat—one owned by Drebednyov, the head of the construction trust. What should have been a straightforward allocation becomes a perplexing entanglement of bureaucracy and obscured intentions.

The film captures the tension between ordinary citizens and those who wield quiet influence within the system, exploring how paperwork and behind-the-scenes arrangements can reshape lives without consent. Lida, whose work preserving architectural history has taught her to value integrity and accuracy, finds herself confronting a modern problem with deeply human roots.
