When the customer later sends back a pulao that many argue is rivaling or perhaps surpassing what Spice 6 serves, Buddha sets out to identify the chef responsible and fires him. The episode is more than a culinary reprimand; it exposes a brittle ego that cannot tolerate the slightest dent in his reputation.

Fate brings Buddha face to face with the very same customer again when she returns to his restaurant. The woman is Nina Verma, Nina Verma, a 34-year-old Indian woman with a gentle resolve and a worldliness that clashes with Buddha’s brisk, sometimes abrasive, approach to life. The two are drawn to each other despite glaring differences in age, temperament, and outlook. Their initial friction slowly gives way to affection, and what begins as a risky, improbable attraction begins to feel like a real connection that could weather the storms of their disparate worlds.

As their bond deepens, Nina and Buddha decide to marry. The engagement triggers a clash of expectations with Nina’s father, Omprakash Verma, a dignified man who is initially taken aback by the idea of his daughter pairing with a man who is considerably older and perhaps set in his own ways. The engagement prompts Omprakash to voice his concerns, and Buddha travels to Delhi to meet him, leaving out one crucial detail—his own age difference is something that could complicate the match. The conversation that follows is tense and revealing, and Omprakash’s reaction is a mix of surprise, worry, and a stubborn willingness to hold his ground for his daughter’s happiness.

The conflict intensifies when Omprakash reacts not just with skepticism but with a decision to test the couple’s resolve. He stages a Gandhi-inspired hunger strike to persuade Nina to reconsider. The film’s final sequence brings the two families together at Spice 6. Buddha’s mother and Nina’s father join the restaurant’s familiar bustle, and the gathering becomes a quiet celebration of reconciliation and new beginnings. In a moment of warmth and understanding, Buddha bonds with Omprakash over a simple cricket match playing nearby, underscoring that life’s meaningful connections often emerge from ordinary moments spent together.
