In a desperate move during the escape, Optimus Prime sends Autobot scout B-127 away to Earth to establish a new base for the Autobots. However, the launch pad is attacked by Decepticon seekers, leaving B-127 stranded after a harrowing escape.

B-127 crash-lands in California in 1987, interrupting a military training exercise led by Sector 7, a covert government agency. Mistaking him for an extraterrestrial threat, Colonel Jack Burns and his team initiate an attack on B-127.

B-127 flees into the woods to escape Sector 7 but encounters the ruthless Decepticon Blitzwing. After a fierce battle, Blitzwing tortures B-127 for information, but despite losing his voice box, B-127 triumphs and manages to scan a nearby Volkswagen Beetle.

Teenage girl Charlie Watson is struggling with her father's death when she discovers a yellow Volkswagen Beetle in a junkyard. Unbeknownst to her, this Beetle is B-127, and she accidentally activates a homing signal that alerts nearby Decepticons.

The Decepticons Shatter and Dropkick approach Sector 7 under the guise of peacekeepers, falsely claiming that B-127 is a fugitive. They persuade agents, including Dr. Powell, to hunt B-127 down, complicating Charlie's mission to protect her new friend.

With time and care, Charlie repairs the orange Volkswagen, leading to a shocking moment where the car transforms into Bumblebee, who has lost his memories. This marks the beginning of an extraordinary friendship as Charlie decides to help Bumblebee regain his identity.
