Brij Mohan Amar Rahe!

Brij Mohan Gupta is a man in his mid-thirties juggling a faltering hosiery shop with a fraught home life. His wife, Sweety, is outspoken and spends money freely, leaving Brij deeply strapped. His secret relationship with Simmi provides a risky escape from mounting troubles, but it does little to ease the debt and dissatisfaction that color his days.

To raise quick cash, Brij agrees to a loan of 2.5 million from Raghu, arranged through a contact named Suri. The setup is a trap: Raghu begins threatening and harassing him, pushing Brij toward desperate options. In a heated quarrel, Brij pushes Raghu down the stairs, nearly killing him, and then hatches a plan to fake his own death using Raghu’s body. After exchanging his own gold tooth to aid the ruse, Brij ties Raghu to a car and sets it on fire, burning Raghu alive.

Brij then adopts the new name Amar Sethi, shaves his head and beard, and hides in a small hotel with Simmi, taking along the money he stole from Raghu’s locker. The police catch wind of Brij’s disappearance when a store owner accuses Sweety of presenting a false cheque originally signed by Brij, drawing official attention toward the couple. Inspector Beniwal is drawn to Sweety, a development she uses to her advantage.

Simmi grows frustrated living with Amar and, after discovering the money Brij hid, tries to run away. He stops her, and in the ensuing struggle, Simmi is killed. The police discover Raghu’s burnt body and declare it Brij’s, aided by the identification of Raghu’s gold tooth. After Brij’s funeral rites, Inspector Beniwal and Sweety share a moment of intimacy in front of Brij’s photograph.

A missing mobile phone leads to the arrest of Amar for stealing the device, but he denies knowledge of the crime. Brij’s true identity has already been suspected by Beniwal, who keeps it to himself. In a tense interrogation, Amar admits that he is Brij, but the police do not immediately believe him. Brij is initially sent to life imprisonment, but Beniwal arranges his release for money. Brij escapes with the money, leaving the judge without his payoff; in anger, the judge orders Amar to be hanged for the murder of Brij.
