Botched

Richie Donovan, a professional thief, is in deep debt to his boss Groznyi after a botched diamond heist that ended with two car accidents. He is given one final opportunity to clear his debt, setting a high-stakes mission ahead of him. The setup establishes the consequences if he fails to deliver.

Groznyi sends Richie on a dangerous mission to Moscow to steal a priceless antique cross from a penthouse. He teams with two Russian accomplices, Peter and Yuri, and travels to the city to execute the plan. The operation quickly becomes more than a simple theft as complications begin to mount.

Richie and his team retrieve the cross, but their escape is foiled when the elevator stops on the unfinished 13th floor. With the police apparently closing in, they seize the other passengers to negotiate their way out of the building. The plan collapses as fear and mistrust spread among the group.

When the elevator finally reaches the ground floor, they discover a hostage has been beheaded, signaling that something more sinister is at play. The survivors split into two factions: Sonya, Helena, and Katerina (joined by Yuri) and Dmitry, Anna, and Boris. Chaos erupts as each side fights for control, and the situation rapidly spirals toward violence.

Sonya’s faction seizes firearms and drags Yuri into a secret chamber where a wild, armored man named Alex awaits to be sacrificed. The other group struggles to respond as the building trembles with fear and confusion. The pageantry of sacrifice hints at a new, brutal threat guiding events.

Yuri manages to escape one of Alex’s elaborate traps, but is ultimately killed as the trap activates, accompanied by disco lights and pulsing music. In the same moment, Katerina is killed, and Richie and the remaining hostages seize the chance to flee. The chaos marks Alex’s first clear sign of the merciless game at play.

Richie and the survivors discover Alex’s lair, filled with surveillance cameras and signs that he watches every move. They learn that Alex is Sonya’s twin brother, and both share a belief they are descendants of Ivan the Terrible. The discovery reframes the hostage crisis as a personal vendetta tied to a shared lineage.

Richie and Anna decide to pursue Alex, while Boris and Dmitry attempt to set traps for him. Their efforts backfire as Alex begins hunting them through the maze-like spaces. Dmitry is easily caught, and Boris is tricked into deploying a faulty trap that costs him his hand, then a serum immobilizes his facial movements.

Alex retrieves the cross and prepares to sacrifice Peter, who miraculously survived earlier injuries. The impending ritual raises the stakes as Richie and the others brace for a brutal showdown. The survivors resolve to stop Alex at any cost and reclaim the cross.

In the brutal final clash, Peter is killed, but Richie manages to impale Alex on disco spikes and set him on fire, recovering the cross. Boris and Richie press the attack to escape the carnage and leave the lair behind. The killer is defeated, but the cost lingers over their escape.

As they attempt to leave, Sonya lunges to strangle Richie, but Anna intervenes and stabs Sonya with a nail file, saving Richie's life. The remaining survivors push through the chaos toward any possible exit. The immediate danger subsides as the immediate threat is neutralized.

Outside, Groznyi rewards Richie for the job, but the revelation that Groznyi is Sonya and Alex’s brother casts a shadow over the victory. Groznyi ominously hints that Richie may return, tying him back to the dangerous world he just escaped. Richie vows never to work for him again as they part ways.

Richie and Anna depart for Los Angeles, leaving the chaos of Moscow behind as they begin a new life. The escape marks a shift away from Groznyi's orbit and toward an uncertain future. The final image hints at a fragile sense of freedom, even as old threats loom on the horizon.
