Set against a plain, unchanging blue screen, the film uses a densely interwoven soundtrack of voices, sound effects and music to portray Derek Jarman’s experience with AIDS, both literally and allegorically. The audio collage also probes the symbolic meanings of the colour blue, making the work a meditation on memory, illness and visual language.
