Bloody Brotherhood

Ka-wah and his family attempt to enter Hong Kong illegally aboard a refugee ship. The sick mother dies from lack of oxygen and their father is killed in a firefight with coast guards. Ka-wah grabs a pistol, fires at the guards, and jumps into the sea, managing to slip into Hong Kong where he is rescued by Kiu and her grandfather.

Ka-wai is captured and deported back to mainland China, where he is forced to work in a mine quarry. He is separated from his brother and faces harsh conditions.

Ka-wah survives the voyage and is rescued by a boat girl named Kiu and her grandfather. He begins a new life in Hong Kong, slowly recovering from his ordeal with their help.

Ka-wah confronts Tong Fai in Wan Lai Tea Room, destroys Fai's bird cage, and defeats several henchmen. Impressed by his courage, Fai takes him on as an underling and treats him like a son.

Fat Hoi persuades the gang boss to traffic cocaine, while Fai opposes the plan. As Fat Hoi consolidates power, he orders outside thugs to disrupt Ka-wah and Kiu's wedding, escalating the feud.

Fat Hoi frames Fai for cocaine possession, sentencing him to seven years in prison. Fai urges Ka-wah to flee, so they relocate to Keelung, Taiwan, where Ka-wah changes his name to Cheung Tin-chau and works for a shipping company owned by Kiu's uncle.

Ka-wah now has a daughter, San-san, and Kiu is pregnant with their second child. He takes over the shipping company from Kiu's ailing uncle, establishing himself as the head of the local business.

Fat Hoi becomes the Chung Sing Tong leader and builds a legitimate business front while continuing drug trafficking. So advises investment and Fat Hoi hires mainland criminals to plan an armored-car robbery, with Ka-wai among the participants.

Fat Hoi's Thai partner proposes smuggling HK$10 million worth of cocaine to Taiwan and seeks collaboration with Ka-wah's company; Ka-wah refuses. Fat Hoi then sends Ka-wai to Keelung to kidnap San-san, a plan that ends in tragedy as San-san suffocates.

Ka-wah returns to Hong Kong to seek revenge on Fat Hoi while Kiu is in hospital about to deliver their second child. He discovers Fai working as a window washer for Fat Hoi and attempts to help him break his cocaine addiction, but Fat Hoi's men force Fai into drug use, and Fai is killed by a Vietnamese henchman.

Fat Hoi orders Ka-wai and a Vietnamese henchman to kill Ka-wah, but Ka-wai spots Ka-wah at Fai's hideout; Fai is killed by the Vietnamese henchman; Ka-wai then kills the henchman. Ka-wah remains determined to avenge Fai and Kiu's memories.

Ka-wah learns of San-san's murder and joins Ka-wai in seeking revenge at Fat Hoi's banquet. Ka-wah slaughters most of Fat Hoi's henchmen with a hand saw; Ka-wai frees Kiu and teams with his brother to finish the attackers. The police arrive and Ka-wai stabs Fat Hoi to death, only to be gunned down by officers.
