Black Rose II

Black Rose pretended to be dead to protect her students, Piu-hung and Yum-fan, from her dangerous enemy Suen Big-ling. She went into hiding for thirty years, living secretly in Hong Kong while keeping her identity concealed. The reveal that she was alive again was triggered when she learned that Suen Big-ling's daughter Suen May-tong (who went by Sandra) had resurfaced and was causing trouble in the city.

Early in the film, Chi-Mo's deliveries to the mysterious occupant who always leaves money on the lamp hint at Black Rose's hidden presence in the city.

Sandra is revealed to be Suen May-tong, the daughter of Suen Big-ling, Black Rose's sworn enemy who wielded the legendary Invincible Flying Rings. Suen May-tong operates as a loan shark and leads the gang that kidnaps Yan-Yan. The conflict between Black Rose and Sandra is actually a generational feud passed down from their parents' rivalry.

Black Rose imprisoned Lui Kei to prevent him from revealing her location or exposing her secret identity to her students. She wanted to keep her students safe from her enemies, and keeping Lui Kei hidden was part of that protection. The mysterious room where Chi-Mo is locked hints at a longer history of captivity that predates the current events.

The twist explains that Black Rose had already defeated Suen May-tong earlier in the story.
