Bhanumathi, a 30-year-old working woman, is dumped by Ram who wants to marry someone younger. Though disappointed, Bhanu decides to move on. Meanwhile, Ramakrishna, a 33-year-old free-spirited bachelor from Tenali, lands a better-paying job in Hyderabad at the same company where Bhanu works. He accepts the offer and moves into Bunty’s apartment. Though hardworking, Ramakrishna struggles to speak English fluently, which Bhanu views as a sign of mediocrity.
Bhanu and Ramakrishna are given a four-day Sankranti break. Ramakrishna advises Bhanu to visit her parents in Vijayawada. Although reluctant, she agrees after her roommates leave for Goa. They drive to Vijayawada together, and Ramakrishna reveals that his family is looking for a match for him. Bhanu’s parents also press her to marry. Later in Hyderabad, Ramakrishna reveals that a prospective match rejected him after learning his age. Bhanu relates to him, and the two start to grow closer.
Bhanu notices Ramakrishna has been ignoring letters sent by his sister, who eloped with her lover years earlier. Bhanu takes him to his sister’s home without telling him, and he is moved to see his sister and her son. The moment deepens their bond.
