Barking Dogs Never Bite

Ko Yun-ju, an unemployed academic, faces the challenges of securing a professorship. Alongside his expectant wife, Eun-sil, he navigates the complexities of their relationship amidst his career aspirations.

Yun-ju becomes increasingly frustrated with persistent noise, which he assumes comes from a neighbor's Shih Tzu. His attempts to locate the dog only lead him to the shocking discovery that the source of the ruckus is actually an elderly resident's Min Pin.

Park Hyun-nam, a custodian, fantasizes about achieving fame after hearing about a heroic bank teller. Her aspirations inspire her to assist others, particularly her friend Yoon Jang-mi, in their own quests for recognition.

A young girl seeks help to find her missing Shih Tzu, believing the dog has lost its bark following an operation. Unbeknownst to Yun-ju, he inadvertently takes in the lost dog and locks it away in his basement.

One night, in a desperate attempt to free the Shih Tzu, Yun-ju sneaks into the basement but is thwarted by a sinister janitor who plans to consume the dog. The situation escalates rapidly as chaos ensues.

In a fit of rage over the chaos, Yun-ju decides to take drastic action against the Min Pin, culminating in him tossing the dog off the roof. This reckless decision triggers a chain of events filled with pursuit and desperation.

Hyun-nam chases after Yun-ju, driven by her sense of justice and desire for recognition. As she seeks to stop him, fate intervenes, causing her to collide with a door and lose consciousness.

While recovering in the hospital, Hyun-nam shares the tragic outcome of the Min Pin with Yun-ju. This moment deepens the complexities of their intertwined lives as both grapple with guilt and remorse.

Feeling the weight of his actions, the guilt-ridden janitor hastily buries the Min Pin but later digs it up again for stew. His plans are thwarted when a resourceful homeless person seizes the meal right from his hands.

Yun-ju's tension with Eun-sil escalates when she surprises him with a Toy Poodle named Baby. Unbeknownst to Yun-ju, Eun-sil had sacrificed much of her severance pay for the dog to support him in his studies.

Overwhelmed by pressure, Yun-ju loses Baby in the park, leading to a confrontation with Eun-sil. This emotional outburst reveals deeper issues in their relationship as Yun-ju realizes Eun-sil's sacrifice.

In a moment of redemption, Yun-ju commits to find Baby, mobilizing Hyun-nam to help in the search. Despite their determination, the quest leads to dead ends as the beloved pup seemingly vanishes.

Hyun-nam encounters Baby while collecting payments for a deceased owner. Emboldened by her newfound purpose, she rescues Baby from a homeless individual with peculiar desires, cementing her heroic character.

Through her bravery, Hyun-nam successfully captures the would-be cannibal and returns Baby to Yun-ju. This act culminates in not just the dog’s rescue but also forces all involved to reassess their identities.

As Yun-ju starts to settle into his role as a professor, he realizes that fulfillment remains elusive. Meanwhile, Hyun-nam, seeking a fresh start, embarks on a hiking adventure with Jang-mi, leaving behind their past struggles.
