Baar Baar Dekho

Jai Varma, a mathematics professor, and Diya Kapoor grow up in Delhi as childhood sweethearts. Jai pursues a potential research fellowship at Cambridge, while Diya longs for marriage and a traditional life. Family expectations and cultural pressure push Jai toward a wedding he is not sure he wants.

Jai reluctantly agrees to marry Diya, but his doubts about the institution of marriage clash with Diya's hopes for a shared future. The wedding day becomes strained as Diya's vision of their life contrasts with Jai's hesitations. That night, Jai drinks heavily and collapses.

That night Jai wakes up on what should be his honeymoon in Thailand, with no memory of the past ten days, including the wedding itself. He is thrust into a surreal reality where his life has shifted and nothing makes sense.

The next morning, Jai finds himself in Cambridge in 2018, reunited with Diya who is pregnant with their first child. He discovers an inexplicable power: he is traveling through pivotal moments in his own future, entirely against his will and without control over when or where he lands.

Jai experiences further jumps into his own future, always without warning, complicating his sense of self and his relationship with Diya. The leaps reveal how his choices ripple through time, forcing him to confront what might have been.

One leap lands him in 2034, where he stands as a successful professor on the day of his divorce from Diya. Desperate for a chance to reset his life, he pleads for another outcome.

He wakes up in 2023, seven years after marriage, trying to balance demanding work with Diya's art world. He rushes home believing his absence has driven a wedge between them, only to find underlying tensions still simmering.

Assuming the timeline can be corrected, Jai is jolted again to 2047, in his sixties, where he attends his mother's funeral. He learns that Diya has remarried an art gallery owner who is deeply woven into his children's lives and was close to his late mother.

During this visit, the priest who solemnized his wedding appears, reminding him of the fragility of time and relationships. He is granted one final chance to set things right.

He wakes again in 2023 and resolves to break free from self-sabotage, actively supporting Diya, attending her art exhibition, and focusing on family and presence rather than ambition.

Returning to the present—the morning after his initial quarrel—Jai experiences a moment of renewed clarity. He rushes to Diya, vocalizes his commitment, and reconnects with the life they had envisioned together.

The film culminates in a joyous wedding celebration, with family and friends gathered around Jai and Diya. Their future is defined by chosen presence, connection, and shared dreams.
