Kavitha discovers that Tilak has developed genuine feelings for her younger sister Bharathi after meeting her. Rather than fight for her own happiness, Kavitha selflessly sacrifices her love and arranges their marriage, believing Bharathi deserves stability and happiness. This sacrifice reflects Kavitha's character as someone who prioritizes family harmony over personal desires.

After Kavitha unites Tilak with Bharathi, Murthy witnesses this act of compassion and is inspired to change his ways. He stops his wayward behavior, gives up drinking, and takes up honest work as a bearer at a restaurant. His transformation earns Kavitha's trust, and she accepts him as the head of the family, allowing her to consider her own future.

Kavitha initially refuses Arun Ghosh's marriage proposal because she cannot leave her family responsibilities. However, after Murthy reforms and becomes responsible, Kavitha feels confident that her family will be cared for even without her. This gives her the confidence to accept Ghosh's proposal, believing her family will be secure.

Murthy seeks a lift from Chandrasekhar without knowing who he is. During the ride, Chandrasekhar reveals he is going to stop Kavitha's marriage by exposing his affairs with both Chandra and her mother. Murthy pleads with him not to cause chaos at the wedding, but Chandrasekhar refuses. In the ensuing scuffle, Chandrasekhar kills Murthy with the silver lamp before police arrest him.

When Kavitha learns of Murthy's death just before the wedding, she realizes she cannot leave her family again so soon after losing Murthy. She needs to support them financially and emotionally. So she convinces Ghosh to marry her younger sister instead, ensuring the family still gains a husband while Kavitha remains to care for them.

Chandra defies Kavitha's warnings and dates Chandrasekhar, a known womanizer. She later discovers he has also been dating her widowed mother, which destroys her emotionally. Feeling betrayed and humiliated, Chandra attempts suicide but is rescued by Kavitha and Gopal.

Earlier, Kavitha had warned Chandra about Chandrasekhar's reputation after he wrote a love letter to her.

After years of waiting for Kavitha to marry him, Tilak meets her sister Bharathi through the family. He feels pity for her situation as a widowed sister, and this pity gradually turns into genuine affection. Kavitha notices this shift in his feelings and chooses to step aside, allowing their love to flourish.

Chandrasekhar has a personal vendetta against Kavitha. Earlier, when he wrote her a love letter, she complained to her boss, leading to him being reprimanded at work. He also resents that Kavitha criticized his relationship with Chandra. On the wedding day, he plans to expose his affairs with both Chandra and her mother to create chaos and stop the marriage.

She bears this burden silently throughout the film, sacrificing her personal happiness for family stability.

After Chandrasekhar's betrayal leaves her suicidal, Kavitha and co-tenant Gopal save her life. They counsel her to move on and suggest she marry Gopal, a trustworthy man who genuinely cares for her. Chandra agrees, finding stability and security after her traumatic experience with Chandrasekhar.

The silver lamp was pledged by Murthy for money, and his wife asks him to retrieve it on the wedding day to gift it to Kavitha. The lamp becomes the murder weapon when Chandrasekhar kills Murthy with it during their confrontation. It represents Murthy's attempt at redemption and his love for his sister, making his death more tragic.
